Learning for a Better Future Course

Our year-long GTCS accredited Professional Learning programme will connect you with like-minded practitioners from across Scotland, taking you on an inspiring and transformational learning journey through Global Citizenship education. After successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded Professional Recognition in Learning for Sustainability (Global Citizenship).

The course runs over the academic year and combines online training, mentoring and reflection sessions with additional professional reading (approximately 10-15 hours) and the development of an enquiry project to be implemented with learners in Term 3.

You will be expected to keep a Learning Journal and course assessments include submission of the final journal entry as well as presentation of your learning to your peers. You will be assigned a mentor who will support you through the process.

Participants will be provided with a teacher handbook containing detailed information on the course and assessment procedures.

Course dates:
Two initial online training days will be held from 10-4pm (with a good break during the sessions) on Saturday the 1st and 29th of October, 2022.

This will be followed by:
A half-day planning session and two twilight support sessions with your mentor during the year delivered online (dates to be confirmed once your mentor is assigned at the start of the course.

A final face-to-face reflection and sharing session at the end of the programme on the 3rd of June, 2023

Course Fee:
£400 per teacher

Who is Eligible to Apply?
This course is open to teachers from all Local Authority schools in Scotland who have completed 1 year of professional practice after gaining full registration from GTC Scotland. Previous professional development in Global Citizenship is helpful but not a pre-requisite.
